World Record Game

Finishing off the 2004 season the team was still pretty well involved in the organizational stage in which we were still weeding out some dead weight. That didn’t stop a few members from taking the advice of our sponsor from T & A Paintball. He said that if we went to one big game this season, to make it the World Record Game 2004 produced by Nikki and friends at Skirmish Paintball in Jim Thorpe, PA. This game was massive. In the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, there is calmness about your surroundings. Even when driving into the historic town of Jim Thorpe, the streets are vacant. It looks like one of those model towns you see in holiday displays at a Hallmark store. On the side of a mountain, next to a river, this town looks like the perfect place to live was just dropped down into the perfect spot. A few miles outside of the town there is a small road with a simple Paintball! Sign pointing off to the left. Driving down this road you come to this clearing. Cars, campers, tents, BBQ grills, and people as far as the eye could see. Amazing. The sheer vibe that crowd gave off in the parking area was well worth the drive from Kent Island. The game started off with short paint and air lines and a briefing from Nikki. Our guys missed the group photo because of the one long line at the chronographs. This didn’t stop the Kent Island Sea Monkeys from tearing up on the field. Stories about the ghillie-suited mad man crawling around on the speedball fields tearing up were heard from both sides at the lunch break. In fact, Senior Sea Monkey B-Ski got to stand in as an extra in the filming of a segment for Spike TV’s Paintball 2 Extremes television program. “This really hot lady came over to me while I was eating and asked if I wanted to be filmed in my ghillie suit, and I was like ‘so what kind of movie are we making?’” recounts B-Ski. There were four players in all that had ghillie suits and one was interviewed on the ground while the other three just stood there. “She asked some really cheesy questions, so I’m glad I was seen and not heard.” Red team, which the KISM swore allegiance to, dominated the event sweeping the Blue team clear back to their rejuvenation station multiple times throughout the game. All accounts of the night game remain at just plain awesome.
